Description: This watercolour of St Michael and All Angels Church, Lydbury North was painted by Rev. Williams on 21st June 1791. This church has two long transepts named after the Plowden and Walcott families, both of whom promised to build a chapel or church for the local residents.
Description: This watercolour was painted by Rev. Williams on 25th August 1790. St John Baptist church in Bishop’s Castle was originally a Norman (1066-1154) style church, although around 1860, much of the church was rebuilt by T.Nicholson.
Description: This watercolour was painted by Rev. Williams on 21st June 1791. It shows the church of St. John the Baptist at Mainstone, although Williams refers to the settlement as both Church Town and Church Mainstone. In the background you can see Offa’s Dyke, which once formed the border between England and Wales.
Description: This watercolour of the church in Edgton was painted by Rev. Williams on 29th June 1791. The church that you can see in this watercolour was built around the 13th century. Between 1895 and 1896 most of the church was rebuilt.
